Spanish history channel back after a few months — we just reached 2,000 subscribers
Hi everyone!
First of all, apologies for disappearing from this subreddit for the last few months. Things have been a little hectic, but I’m finally back with a new video.
And there’s something I wanted to share with the community: Ecos Hispánicos has just reached 2,000 subscribers! 🎉
Thank you to everyone who has watched, commented, subscribed, or simply taken the time to give some feedback over the last few months. Reaching 2,000 might not sound huge compared with the big channels, but for a small history channel producing relatively long-form documentaries, it means a lot.
The new video is a counterfactual history documentary:
“Spanish Gibraltar: What if Spain had not lost it in 1704?”
The video explores how keeping Gibraltar could have affected Spain’s military and naval development during the following decades.
But, honestly, I’m posting here less to promote the video and more because I’d really like feedback from other creators.
I’m particularly interested in your opinion about:
- The thumbnail/packaging: Does it immediately communicate what the video is about? Is the title too long or too explanatory?
- The visual style: Most of the documentary uses AI-generated illustrations with a classic, semi-realistic anime aesthetic. Does this work for historical content, or does it take you out of the period?
- The narration: Is the pacing appropriate for a historical documentary, or would you personally make it faster?
- The editing: Does the combination of narration, music and still images hold your attention?
- The overall channel direction: Does the concept of character-based historical documentaries mixed with occasional counterfactual history make sense as a channel identity?
And, of course, feel free to be critical. I’m much more interested in knowing what doesn't work than hearing that everything looks good.
If you have your own channel, I'd also be happy to check it out and return the feedback.
Thanks again to everyone who helped Ecos Hispánicos reach 2,000 subscribers. Hopefully I won't disappear for another few months. 😅
