Disabled access at the US Open?
Hi folks!
I've been relatively recently diagnosed with epilepsy. In the UK where I'm from, this is classed as having a disability and thus I can book accessible tickets (not the wheelchair ones, of course). I was wondering if anyone else with a non-physical disability has attended the US Open, and if so, how did you find it? The issue I'm discovering is the blinding lights that tend to be towards the top of the stadium. As long as they're not flashing, I'm fine, but even the bright lights on the top or a lot of movement on a bright jumbotron can be a problem.
There's plenty of wheelchair seating info on USTA's site and I do see some accessible seating for sale, but I'm unsure if that's exclusively a wheelchair space or if it includes a seat. At Wimbledon, a wheelchair space is just a space with no chair, but they make it explicitly clear you need to be in a wheelchair to use it. They have a separate category of accessible seating for non-physical disabilities, but I can't see if that's the case at USO.
Does anyone know if I book an accessible seat at the USO, is that always going to be a wheelchair space?
Thanks in advance!
