New player advice tips and tricks!

I’m excited my boyfriend surprised me with a PS5 and we’re waiting for the game to download! Im a bit nervous I haven’t played new game in a long long time; fable and Skyrim are my experiences (and a lot of D and D) but what advice did you wish you had as a new player?
