Linsey Clancey Was Possessed By a Persona/Shadow. Notes - You Are Not What Others Think of You - You Are Not the Image You Create or Sell to Others - You Are Not the Idea You Nurture In Your Head. You Are Always What You Have Worked To Achieve. Lindsey Clancy is a Victim of a Mother Persona.

Personal Experience

'To have good fruit you must have a healthy tree; if you have a poor tree, you will have bad fruit. A tree is known by the kind of fruit that it bears.'

LORD Jesus Christ, Matthew 12:33-34

'The Persona is a complicated system of relationships between the individual consciousness and society. Fittingly enough, a kind of mask designed on one hand to make a definite impression on others, and on the other to conceal the true nature of the individual.'

Carl Jung, Two Essays on Analytical Psychology

I will talk about Linsey Clancey in a bit. Just want to make a proper introduction.

My whole life has been a performance.

Why?

Because I didn't have an identity.

Or more accurately, I didn't want the responsibility of deciding and choosing and working on who I have decided to be. It was easier to just be what others wanted or do what others wanted in the hopes that maybe others would do things for me or do what I wanted.

But it doesn't work like that.

You have to decide who you are, what you stand for, your interests, and wants. And that freedom of choice comes with a serious caveat -- responsibility.

What is responsibility - Responsibility is realizing that you are answerable for every decision, choice, action and result.

That responsibility isn't a punishment, but rather a helper.

A lot of modern people are constantly trying to look or find themselves.

Some people decide to be what others want. But the problem with that is that you lose autonomy.

Some people create an image that they sell to society. But the problem with that is that you become a slave to ideals and ideas that you have not chosen. Society then becomes your master. You, it's slave. Many women fall into this trap - at least that is what I have seen with my mother and most of the female friends I have had.

Some people hold on to the image they have created of themselves in their head. But the problem with that is that you end up being delusional and a slave to shadows and instincts you cannot control. Many men fall into this trap. The Alpha Male persona which is very prevalent in PUA community etc.

You cannot know yourself in a vacuum - I am learning. You have to have a mirror. A way through which you can truly see yourself clearly without bias.

You can know who you are by the results you get in your life. If you want to change who you are, change the results that you are working for in life. But that means taking responsibility for whatever you do.

Which brings me to Lindsey Clancey.

I have been following a little bit of Lindsey Clancey's trial. I am not excusing what she did - three beautiful children died no matter what anyone says. But it feels as though she was a slave to a persona society sold her - The Mother and its shadow - the Devouring Mother.

A mother is more than just someone who gives birth to you, but rather someone who takes care of you, loves you and wants the best for you. But that has to be a genuine decision from a person. Not a commitment to fulfill a persona society requires of you.

A lot of women are told that it is their duty to be a mother. And a lot of women approach it like this. But something as important as motherhood has to come from your heart - you have to actually want to do it. It is something that you have decided matters to you. The key here is decision. That is the only way to counteract the shadow. It has to come from your heart - it has to matter to you.

Otherwise, you will just become a mother because that is what is expected of you when your heart isn't in it. That is what the shadow possesses, the emptiness in your heart and your decision making that has to be filled with genuine decision making, choice and action.

Responsibility.

You can always tell someone who is a slave to a persona and the resulting shadow because they cannot take responsibility for what they have done within that persona and shadow. They are always blaming everything and everybody else except themselves, and while there are a lot of factors that contribute to anything bad that happens - those cannot be dealt with until a person takes responsibility for their own part in what happened first.

I can say this because that is what I have seen in myself and learnt.

Which is why the defense's argument of blaming Post Partum Depression is not a good one and sets a terrible precedent.

I am not making light of Post Partum Depression. It is something that a lot of women go through that they need help with. But using it to excuse a terrible crime is not the right thing.

But back to the idea of this case being the Devouring Mother at play.

From my experience and the theory I am working with, the shadow is a result of the Persona. It always follows in a sense or takes the shape (as any good shadow is wont to do) of the Persona that you are trying to uphold but its contents are always the inverse of the Persona you are trying to sell.

Let me use myself as an example.

The Persona I choose was the Lover. I defined myself by how much love I could get - especially from women. So, I built my Persona around that - dedicated myself to learning everything I could about relationships, pleasuring women all of it.

But my shadow was the inverse - the Devourer - Don Juan. Love is about sustaining one another, my love took the form of consumption. Yes, I would give my partners pleasure and a good time but they always kept themselves at arms length because (I am coming to understand) a part of them understood that there was a part of me that there was a part of me that didn't genuinely care about them - never taking me seriously as someone to have a relationship with - which only made me angrier or worse because I was doing all this to prove that I was lovable or worthy of love.

That Devouring Shadow took on the form of sex addiction. Pornography, Prostitutes, you name it. And I just couldn't understand it because I was doing everything I could to be better and to be someone worthy of love.

That desire for love took me to Christianity. So, I replaced one Persona with another. From Lover to Priest. But the Shadow was still there. Now it had a new form - fundamentalist, hypocrisy.

I started to notice that the pattern with my new Persona was still the same. I wanted to be a Christian to prove a point that I was a good little Christian boy deserving of love. I had taken my desperation for love from everyday life to a spritiual stage.

Christianity is a beautiful religion, and it helped me a lot on this journey but it is a religion that requires genuine commitment and responsibility. You cannot pretend to be a good Christian. I have met real genuinely good Christians - they are real good people. And then there are those who aren't - the fundamentalists and hypocrisy (which I was a part of) who need to actively hate others instead of realizing their own sin and darkness.

The thing I am learning concerning breaking free from the control of the shadow and the Persona is cultivating genuine responsibility.

I think Lindsey Clansey was herself a victim of Persona and Shadow Possession like Marilyn Monroe. Perhaps, she decided to be a mother because that was what was expected of her - without it being a genuine desire and decision in her own life.

You would be surprised at how many women are forced to have children or be mother simply because that is what everybody around them wants them to do. Again, I am not excusing the crime only seeking to understand a person who has done and experienced something incredibly monstrous. Which is why I think a lot of women have come out to support Lindsey Clansey because deep down inside women everywhere understand that they could all run the risk of being Lindsey Clancey. It's like the Feminine Archetype rising up to stand up or make people aware of something.

Jung believed that the unconscious and the Collective Unconscious (The Anima Mundi) contains within it all of the desires, needs, lessons and thoughts of humanity since the beginning of time concerning a certain aspect, archetype or thoughts. (At least that is what I have read of Jung) - so I don't find it strange at all, that women would be come out to support her.

"The collective unconscious contains the whole spiritual heritage of mankind's evolution born anew in the brain structure of every individual."

Carl Jung, The Collected Works of Carl Jung: Structure and Dynamics of the Psyche

But that is just my own thoughts and theories.

Anyway,

You have to be answerable to yourself and others for the results you work for - that is the only way to overcome the Shadow or Persona from ruling you. While the Persona has its uses in certain situations, the problem comes in when you make the Persona all there is.

Think of a cake. A cake has icing (the decoration to make it look good which is a nice sweet treat) and then there is the actual cake which is what everybody eats. The problem is when you view the Persona as the entirety of the cake rather than the whole cake itself.

First, you take responsibility for whatever you have participated in with the Shadow or Persona then you can heal.

Anyway, I share my thoughts and notes as a way to test their validity, verity or applicability. You know, the empirical method.

This has been an interesting journey, and I hope to continue learning. I really, really appreciate your contributions.

What do you think?
