My first 2 weeks on Adderall IR: Is this exactly how it's *supposed* to feel?
I have been taking two 10mg tablets of Adderall IR (generic) a day for 2 weeks now. The effects during the first week were noticeable but more subtle than I expected. I didn't feel any suppression of appetite at all (thankfully) but I also didn't really experience any "silencing of the chatter" in my head as people describe. It might have diminished a little, but what is more noticeable is the lift in mood and motivation which itself has virtually eliminated that sinking gut feeling I used to feel any time I thought about taking on almost anything but the most menial of tasks. All of that is good enough for me to want to continue to take it, but I don't know if I would say it has improved my focus. I am still prone to day dreaming and getting distracted while I am at work, though maybe not as much. I see my doctor in about 5 days, so I plan to bring this up, along with the 2-3 occasions in the past 2 weeks of heightened irritability (that might be my GAD not getting addressed directly/agitated by the stimulants). Would anyone with experience with Adderall or other ADHD meds say this is grounds to consider a slightly higher dosage (with my doctor, of course), or even a switch to XR? Or is this more or less the meds doing things correctly?
Note: I started a job managing a warehouse this year which involves a lot of moving parts both literally and figuratively. I am prone to constant interruptions by other employees and my work space is currently very cluttered because of a massive project the company has taken on. I would imagine this work environment makes it very difficult to focus for anybody, let alone someone just starting treatment for a late-diagnosed ADHD (I am 33 and have been diagnosed just a couple of months ago). On weekends when I have more time to clean my house and can take care of things at my own pace, I do think I notice the effects of the Adderall more.
