Is proactive maintenance necessary?

328i

I recently picked up a 2009 328xi and have some questions on how to best approach it. The car was a once-owner, dealer-maintained car but it sits at 140k miles.

Despite the mileage, the car is in amazing shape (I'll post pics once it's ready for its unveiling). So far I've been addressing minor cosmetic things: two-stage paint correction, complete interior and engine bay detail, replacing broken plastic clips and tacky door handles, etc.

I don't have full documentation, only what shows on Carfax. What concerns me are the typical failure points, based on that history:

- random suspension work throughout its life

- valve cover gasket done at 73k miles.

- oil pan gasket replaced at 96k miles.

My goal is to turn this 140k miler into something that daily drives like it did at 40k miles. Would it make sense to refresh the suspension (car has xdrive), tackle the oil pan and valve cover, and replace the water pump preemptively without them needing it (yet)? None of those appears to need attention at this time. Without knowing the actual maintenance history, is it best to "wait and see" or "don't risk it"?

(Note that, while this will be a daily driver, it's not my only car and won't be relied on until it's proven itself)
