On August 2nd I bought two 4-inch plants and combined them into one 6-inch pot on Aug 7th. I set the root balls at the same height as they were in the nursery pots. I loosened the soil a little, but a lot of the soil remained on the roots. I used a 1-1-1 ratio of soil, perlite, and orchid bark in the new pot. On Aug 28th, I noticed they were losing leaves that were yellowing and it looked like they might have root rot. I pulled them out and that's when I noticed their root balls were buried too deep in the soil. Additionally, the soil was retaining a lot of water. It was still heavily damp more than a week after the last watering, which was the only time I'd watered since the first repotting. Despite the leaf drop, the rest of the vines were healthy. The roots looked good and I didn't see signs that root rot had already developed. I set them a bit higher when repotting, but made sure the roots are buried in soil. What was interesting is that despite the soil still being damp, when I tickled the roots, all the soil fell off and I so I ended up just repotting a cluster of individual vines. I used Fox Farms potting soil combined with perlite and orchid bark (same 1:1:1 ratio). I also noticed the ceramic pot has a design flaw - the drainage hole has a bit of a lip that doesn't allow water to completely flow out, so I switched it to a plastic pot that has "cyclone" drainage and I know, from other plants in the same pot (bought a multi-pack of them), that it drains very well. I gave it a thorough watering the next morning to settle the soil and roots. I waited till the next morning to give the roots some time to breathe since the soil was so water logged when I pulled it out of the previous pot; hopefully that was good logic. Now the whole plant is wilting and continuing to drop leaves. Is this just transplant shock? I set up a humidifier to help boost humidity while it recovers. Is there anything else I should do?

What am I doing wrong? How can I save my Hoya Sunrise?
