Making up hours when resigning

Hi all,

Im currently on a 16 hour contract at my current employment (England), however I do about 32 hours a week, 4 days a week, picking up 2 extra shifts on bank. I have been working at the company for just under a year and have taken on a 16 hour contract in the middle of June.

I am starting a new job in October and am hoping to hand my resignation in on the 8th September, so my last day will be Thursday 8th October. My contracted days are Friday and Saturday, so will I have to make up these hours before my last day on the 8th October? As any shifts outside of these days are usually bank and my choice.

I hope this makes sense! Just wanting a little gap between the jobs, and I originally thought the notice period was 28 days, now just finding out it’s a month
