Just discovered that I'm pregnant and I'm both in denial and freaking out
Bf (36) and I (29) have been together for many years now.
We often talked about having a child some day and lately we started to be less careful than usual, knowing that pregnancy was a possibility, even though we didn't properly plan it.
My point of view at the time was "I'll be happy either way" and his was kind of the same.
I've always thought about having a family and thought I would be overwhelmed with joy the day I'd get pregnant but in the meantime, it was a commitment I was really scared to take.
Took a pregnancy test today because I was 3 days late which isn't much but very unusual to me. For 3 days I thought I was overthinking, thought I would be a little disappointed if it turned out negative, because it did take tests before and felt so. But it turned out positive straight away and my reaction wasn't at all what I expected.
I can't believe there's a tiny tiny baby inside of me, like it's something I'm making up.
And in the mean time, I know it's there because I can't deny the positive tests. And there I am freaking out. I know we could be good parents but we are not "ready ready". We have a lot of work to do in the house, not a lot of money, we love our "me times". I'm scared of what's happening in the world, anything and everything bad that could happen to this kid.
I'm really scared to ruin 3 lives in one strike.
But thinking about it, I'm not sure we'll be more ready in a few years. Maybe the house will be done, but we will never be a lot richer, we won't get any healthier. Plenty of people do it with less than us and their life doesn't look like a living hell.
We still have a few weeks to think about it, but once again, I'm scared to make a decision I will regret forever. I'm so badly confused and hoping for a revelation anytime soon.
