Topping DX5II With Speakers

Hi everyone, wanted to know if DX5II needs an external amp to power bookshelf speakers like Polk Audio. I ask this because I find powering my AKG K712 Pro a little hard with the DX5II. I currently use it as a desktop setup, so maybe some near field monitors would be better? I have a low - medium budget. I know it might not be helpful but my currency is not in USD or EUR so bear with me.
