Does a landlord care if the cat already has permission?

If a lease already allows the cat, switching from a regular litter box to a powered one feels like a strangely specific thing to ask permission for. It doesnt alter the apartment but it may need more floor space, an outlet, and a spot where the cleaning sound won’t bother someone through a shared wall. Rental rules may also care more about floor protection and pet related damage than the type of box itself. Have landlords generally treated an automatic litter box as ordinary pet equipment or something that needs separate aproval?
