How we are making "this" work...

NSFWOpinion

Hello all!
Hopefully, the Labor Day weekend is working well for all of us!

I'm 53F and have been married for almost 30 years. This is my first post. What's that statement from a while back? "I’ve been a long time listener"/ viewer and finally, first time poster.
My thanks to one particular connection here for her encouragement to share my journey. Her encouragement led me to begin developing my thoughts over the summer. I also appreciate the new chatting connections that are beginning from these Christian subreddits. We have been looking for a space to share and connect and are finding these positive, open spaces here.☺️

Our beginning steps have been slow, introspective, but determined. Throughout our marriage, we've sought to prioritize our lives around God, family, then others. About 8 years ago (the original, inspirational moment is a few years earlier), we'd been serving in ministry, raising our family, and taking care of aging parents. We realized our sex life wasn't lacking, but we were missing the passion we used to have. This reality check started us on the journey of re-discovering, or maybe even releasing, our sexy sides.
For me (F), that meant addressing physical changes like hormones, low libido, and overall health. It also meant a deeper dive into allowing myself to be, feel, and express, as my loving husband shares, my "sexy side."
Why was this deeper dive just happening? Please consider our religious background was Southern Baptist, and for years, both of us had kept our sexy, playful sides decidedly "low key." As we dove, DH started looking into the lifestyle as an option, and we started learning about and discovering our particular expression of the LS.

The last 8 years have involved long conversations and some surprisingly erotic experimentations. In the middle of all of this, we've struggled with the questions we've read and seen discussed from so many here. For example, "What does the Bible say about our "thing" and sin? Are we playing with adultery? How does this mesh with and affect our relationship with Christ?" Other questions remain before us like being outed. We have allowed that "outed" question to occasionally take us to "How do we go anywhere and do anything when it seems like we run into people we know or who know us everywhere?" 😏 There are more questions I'm willing to add, but these are enough for now.

At this point in our journey, we've come to these key take-aways that help us make this journey work for us:
- this is an on-going journey that we must communicate deeply with each other and God. It's taken us years to get to this point, and we still take our time. I think this way: right time, right place, and right person (or people).
- we're committed in and with our relationship with God. So, we bring Him and the Bible into the discussions and do our best to follow the leading He gives. Whether the additional dates work out or not, our sexual identity and thing doesn't change; we're still the same and still going to express our sexy side.
-I don't know if there's ever going to be an easy, cut and dried answer to all the questions and quandaries this lifestyle brings, but this is how we are making this work. And, working it is!

As this is my first post, I will gladly expand and post more as I have time (that precious commodity), but I'm just starting "here." If some would like to comment how the lifestyle works for you, please do. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider what I have begun to share.
