Will I lose medical care due to this bill?
So I’m a 21 year old broke college student. I’m a full time student. A month ago I went to the er for rabies pep shots bc my primary care doctor told me I needed to. The er physician told me it wasn’t necessary. I was hit with a $1680 hospital bill that I can’t pay at all, mostly due to insurance deductible. I’ve applied to charity care without any of my parents information and I’m still waiting to hear back. What I’m worried is that I’ll be denied and screwed. Through the hospital it would be $120 a month payment plan and I can also use care payment and do $25 a month lowest. I’m mainly worried bc I have a regular clinic doctor that I see regularly through that same exact hospital. Like the clinic is in that hospital. This care is cheap and accessible, as it is trans HRT and I absolutely need that. I am in the state of New Jersey. I’m worried with this medical debt they can and may deny me of non emergency medical care and I will no longer be able to access my transition medications that I very desperately need. Worse comes to worse and I get denied for charity care can I appeal it? Can they deny me medical treatment through my clinic doctor even if I end up doing the payment plan? I’m overthinking but I’m young I don’t know how any of this works and I need my medication and there aren’t many doctors who provide it.
