Is 250 the maximum compensation I can get for a delayed EU to EU flight?
My flight was delayed 8+ hours. However it was a short haul flight within Europe (Ibiza to Barcelona). I have been offered the 250 compensation but the reason I want more is that it’s because it wasn’t a straight forward delay, I wasn’t just 8 hours late to my destination because my first delayed flight was a connection and I then missed my second flight because of this. Both flights were with Ryanair, but they get out of covering that because they ‘don’t do connecting flights’ basically, you buy 2x separate Ryanair flights, meaning you’re not covered for things like this. First I ever heard about it.
I also had to change destination and fly to Madrid instead of Barcelona and then fly Barcelona to my destination Malaga the next day.
The whole scenario actually cost me £800+, the flight I missed was £450, the first delayed flight was around £100, I had to buy a new final destination flight at £150, and I had get taxis to and from the airport because I wasn’t gonna wait there 8 hours. I also couldn’t get a connecting flight until the following day, so I had to go off no sleep.
I know Ryanair is the worst airline ever and if it was any other airline they would of rectified this but in their words ‘it is what it is’ when I explained I was going to miss my £450 Ryanair connecting flight.
Is it worth going through a third party company for more money?
