Alfa Mito 1.3 diesel 2012 timing chain

Maintenance

Hi all, my garage said at my recent service "Timing chain - some rattling audible".

I've checked (AI) and it said this is Critical. A noisy chain indicates stretch or worn guides. If it jumps teeth or snaps, it will likely cause total engine destruction.

While timing chains are designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle, they are wear-and-tear parts that can stretch over time—especially on the Fiat/Alfa 1.3 MultiJet diesel engine if oil changes are delayed. The chain tensioner relies on engine oil pressure, so low or dirty oil accelerates wear and causes the chain to rattle.

Is this true on the Alfa Mito, do you reckon I should heed the advice and get it done?
