3 m/o feeding trouble

Bottle Aversion / Feeding Refusal ❌

Our 3 month old is proving very difficult to feed…

Our baby was born a about 1.5 weeks early and underweight. Because of this she spent about 2 weeks in the NICU/GCU. During that time, she had not trouble feeding.

After bringing her home, she would always sleep after about 10-20ml (1/3〜2/3 oz). We’d do what we could to wake her up to get her to feed and we’re okay in her growth goals for the first 2 months.

Now, she will mostly drink while she is a sleep and shows aversion when awake. I seem to have a bit more luck than my wife when the baby is awake but even so, she drinks very little or falls asleep very early into the feed.

She is having trouble gaining weight and our pediatrician is having us wait another week before another weigh in at which point they will decide to refer us to the hospital or not.

It’s become especially stressful for my wife who now wants nothing to do with feeding time.

We’ve tried changing formula, changing bottles, changing nipples, putting more time between feedings, stopping when baby refuses the bottle and trying again later…

What are your experiences with this?
