North vs South facing apartment

Moving to mid-town to a studio-type apartment with floor to ceiling windows on the 26th floor (Forma), will probably have a desk in the living room. Is the sun low enough in the summer to beat directly into the living room all day and make me live with the shades drawn? I will probably have the opportunity to choose a north-facing apartment instead, wondering if that's the better choice for home office....
