2017 Manual Fit intermittent charging from alternator

Help Request

Looking for any advice or to see if anyone has had this issue before.

Last week my car wouldn’t crank leaving work so my coworkers helped me roll it and she started. Next morning it cranked weakly and I took it to an AutoZone for the charging system diagnosis. Battery was dead and replaced and the tool said the alternator was failing.

A few days later a buddy gave me a voltage reader to plug into the cig lighter. When the car is cold the voltage reads normal, steady 14.3 when driving to work in the early morning or leaving when the sun goes down. When the car is hot though, IE starting it when it’s been sitting in the sun midday, the voltage readout goes down to 12.5. It does consistently spike to 14.3 when the car is in gear and slowing down.

I ordered a new alternator and belt from rock auto and installed them today, but the issue persists. I found an old Honda forum from 10+ years ago where a guy was having a similar issue and he found a specialist shop that found a pin somewhere in the charging loop that was bent and that fixed the problem.

Tomorrow I plan to go through all of the plugs I can see and check for any issues or broken pins, but I’m unsure what else I could do. Has anyone experienced a similar issue and found a solution? Any advice or ideas would be helpful, thanks.
