Help choosing between 2 Rheem systems - Classic or Prestige
This is for a 2100 SqFt 3 level townhouse (interior unit) located in MD (700 Sqft per floor). Currently there is a 20 year old non functioning 2.5 ton Trane 14XLi paired with a Trane Variable speed indoor unit. I am considering 2 different options from Rheem (details listed below) as a full replacement.
After factoring in the rebates that are being offered through the state and local power company, Option 2 will only be about $800 more expensive. Additionally, the new heat pump is being coupled with better attic insulation and sealing. Option 2 seems to be Rheems top end system, but it looks like this will be a 3 ton unit both indoor and out. Given that the house is currently using a 2.5 ton unit and the house should be seeing a significant boost in insulation do I need a 3 ton unit inside and out? Any potential issues/concerns about using the 3 ton units in this scenario?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
