AIO I feel like my partner isn’t attracted to me anymore.
This is my first time ever doing something like this so please bear with me. I (25f) have been with my partner (35M) for almost 2 years now. Slowly but surely, our sex life has waning. It happens less frequently, only during certain times during the day, and he’s struggling to ejaculate.
I have tried talking to him at length. “Can I do something differently?” Or “is there anything you want to explore or try together?” I even went as far as to ask if he wanted to add someone else to the mix to spice things up, which he immediately shut down.
I’ve communicated that this makes me feel unattractive and that the constant not so nice rejection has been hurting me. Now, I know he doesn’t owe being nice when he’s being met with the attempt to initiate intimacy, but sounding like it’s a burden to even turn me down makes me feel like I should just stop trying all together. But then, when I give him space and stop asking, he asks if I’m mad at him (???)
At one point he thought it might be his antidepressants and his doctor thought that adding a libido increaser (idk if that’s right but you get what I’m trying to convey) would help. He’s been on it for two months, almost three at this point and it hasn’t really helped at all.
I started going to the gym despite already losing weight since meeting him (switched birth controls and the extra weight is finally coming off). I’ve been doing my makeup more often and trying different clothes/hair just to see if it’ll draw his attention, it hasn’t.
A few days ago I broke down crying in the mirror after staring at myself for entirely too long and he heard my sobs. I didn’t think he’d even notice since he had just hopped on game and he usually locks in for at least 3 hours before he gets up for xyz reason. He asked me why I was crying and I was honest with him, telling him once again that I miss when he touched me, I missed when he initiated intimacy, and I mean like the basics here. He doesn’t hold my hand, kiss, caress, cuddle, hug, or do anything to me first, I’m always asking or initiating unless he’s upset and needs physical comfort.
I told him that I wanted to feel wanted. Telling me was still attracted to me only when prompted was not the same as expressing it because he felt it in the moment or showing me if he couldn’t tell me. He told me I was making a big deal out of nothing, and that not everyone wants to have sex everyday. We have sex maybe once every 2 weeks if I’m lucky, but it’s more often than not once a month. I attempt to initiate once every week and half on average (I went an entire month when I decided to just stop pestering him, feeling like maybe the pressure of me asking was the issue).
Am I over reacting?? Are all of my approaches wrong? Am I being crazy and looking for problems where there aren’t any? At this point I’m at my wits end. I’ve considered asking him to go with me to an intimacy counseling but I don’t know if it would even be worth trying given his behavior. I’m not even going to pretend like I’m not ready to throw in the towel and accept that I’ll be riding silicone for a while bc a girl has needs and the rejection ain’t it.
