Priced out closer to the Bay, tired of cookie-cutter new builds — now we’re about to close on a 1960s Clayton Valley ranch we genuinely love.

East Bay

We started out thinking new construction was the obvious choice, but after seeing enough of them, many started feeling cookie-cutter and almost cardboard-like. Closer to the Bay, prices were simply too high for the space we wanted.

So we expanded our search and are now this close 🤞 to closing on a 1960s ranch in Clayton Valley, Concord.

Yes, my commute will be around an hour each way, and yes, the kitchen is dated 😂. But we fell in love with the mature trees, real front lawn, big backyard, established neighborhood and a house that actually has character.

Funny how I started wanting brand-new and ended up loving a 60-year-old California ranch that needs a little work.

Now just waiting for those 🔑 next week. I love California.
