Mixed opinion about switch bonus from banks.
So some banks offers a switch bonus if you switch to them from your current bank and deposit a certain amount for a period of time. Some say that since you are the lender and the bank being the borrower returns you with an extra interest labelled as bonus.
But my qs would be that many banks offer debit card offers, discounts on their cards if you keep certain amount in your current account, wouldn't that be haram then by thus logic?. Since here also you would be lending money for a gift from the bank. Many premium customers gets gifts from the banks, would that be haram too then?.
Shouldn't this bonus be considered a way of attracting new customers and then giving them a reward for joining just like a normal business do?, if the argument is that the source of earning of bank is haram then by that logic any transaction with a bank would be a grey area since their source of earning will always be interest, even if you keep your money in a current account, they'll use it to lend and earn interest and reward you through discounts on your debit card.
