Not sure it fits here (yet) however can’t think of another sub to post in. Can’t get hold of a person TradeMe but the bot says someone will be possibly get back to me within 48 hours.

Have an iPhone I put on TradeMe and relisted twice as it didn’t sell.

Pics 1 and 2 are the unsold listings.

3 is the sold listing.

4 and 5 is the email and screenshot he emailed me he claims is from my listing.

1, 2 and 3 don’t show after pay and I’m 99.9% sure I didn’t list it as an option for the auction.

The other anomaly in his screenshot is where it says no pick-up but all of my listings allow pick up - apart from anything else a phone isn’t a cheap item and I wouldn’t buy one I couldn’t collect in person.

The trade only went through this morning and the last screenshot is from my app saying it’s been paid with afterpay but it isn’t in my account yet and he’s wanting the phone sent by courier urgently for his sons birthday on Tuesday.

He sent me an email saying he’d accepted the offer but I’d removed afterpay as an option and he couldn’t pay by ping as his money is tied up. I replied and sent him a screenshot showing AP wasn’t an option on the auction, but I’d be happy to register for him which he agreed to so I did. He’s sent back an email saying that AP is still listed as a payment option on the previous auctions and I’m being dishonest. Which if that was the case, why didn’t he pay by Afterpay in the first place?

Red Flags

1) all of my listings - other than the one I relisted specifically with afterpay don’t show it as a payment option.

2) Claims in his email signature he’s a Doctor and retired army Captain. I’ve verified there is a registered Doctor (checked the registered doctors list and googled the guy in the region he wants the phone sent) and his bio from his practice) says he was in the army.

4) is using a proton vpn email address

5) The urgency of the courier for a randomly specific reason but chose the cheapest of the shipping options which is unlikely to get from me in Christchurch to him in Invercargill overnight.

6) the vaguely threatening tone of the email.

Green flags

1) TradeMe app says payment has been made

2) The guy has 98.7% positive feedback with 813 positive, 6 neutral and 8 negative.

I’ve never sold anything through TradeMe using after pay before. Is this going to end up being a situation that he’s going to get the item and then claim it was never delivered or because it arrived after Tuesday he doesn’t want it and claim a refund and leave me either without a phone or the $ for it. Or it’s going to come back with the box opened and a dud/broken phone in the box?
