Common-law Documents Questions
Planning to apply for inland common- law soon My partner Canadian citizen and I have been together for 3.5 years and living together since October 2024. We both then went on a separate trip( did meet up for travel )and came back to Canada in April 2025. I have backdated my IRCC to state we were common-law since Oct. 2024. So basically living together for 1 year 5 months now
We have lived together since April 2025 but he does not have a lease. We do not contact the landlord ever he is very old and the Leaseholder just sends the rent from everyone. We live with the Leaseholder who will write us a letter.
We also have shared bank account since Oct 2024 but I mostly use it my partner does not. My partner pays my rent and I buy groceries etc. We don't really share bills apart from that so there is no proof of me sending utilities etc. we do our own separate finances as rent is cheap and then i do groceries which evens out. Also I will only be able to provide proof we share an account?
We have same address on pay stubs and driving licenses.
Should I maybe get on his car insurance as something else.?
We have proof of travelling home to meet each others families and attending a family wedding etc. we will have letters and photos from family and friends
I am just afraid that this is not enough proof as we can not get a lease ?
