the feeling of "butterflies"

hi, ive been lurking and occasionally commenting on this sub a bit, and i see a lot of posts talking about not understanding the physical or mental feeling that come with romance.

my question here is, have any of you ever felt butterflies in a romantic sense? after discovering i was aro (zeromantic to be exact), i looked back on my past romantic experiences and identified the "butterflies" i thought i was feeling as a manifestation of anxiety and borderline repulsion. has anyone else experienced this and mistook it for the so called "butterflies"?

(Also, fun anecdote of mine, i remember in freshman year i had a crush on someone purely based on aesthetics, but they made an advance towards me and i shut down for the rest of the day. on the bus, my best friend at the time asked if i got butterflies, and i remember distinctly telling her "not butterflies, it feels like moths eating my stomach." i shouldve known lol)
