Stopping medication after 5 days. Will therapy be enough?
Context : I'm stopping Sertraline after 5 days i've already talked with my psychiatrist and i'm going to take half 25mg for the next two days then getting off. I know it takes a couple weeks for it to take a effect and help, that the side effects will get better eventually but i have midterms in 2 weeks and i've slept not more than 4 hours each night since starting. The increase in anxiety is manageable and so is the other symptoms but i wanna quit for now cause my tiredness is making my non allergic rhinitis act up and i'm miserable.
Now that's out of the way i've asked for recommendations from my psychiatrist for some therapists to start seeing, I've seen some in the past but have had bad experiences, one laughed when i talked about a traumatic situation i had, mostly because my abuser is elderly so it's normal in our culture blah blah blah. One cut sessions 35 minutes early kept recommending meditation after every session. I just wanna know if maybe i should keep trying with therapy that there's more than just meds? I just more so want other people's experiences about if talk therapy has helped on it's own.
TL:DR : Quitting Sertraline 5 days in, Does anyone have experience with talk therapy helping on it's own without needing meds?
