To stay or not to stay
I (female 36) have been with my husband (35) for almost 12 years. We have been married for 2 years and have a daughter that recently turned one. While I know my husband will never admit it, I believe he doesn’t love me anymore - or maybe he’s just not in love with me, and I don’t blame him because I’m not “in love” with who he is right now either.
We survived infidelity on his part early in our relationship and I kick myself every day for not listening to my gut and calling it quits then. I have always known there was something that possibly wasn’t right, but I ignored it because I find him very funny and he was and is my best friend.
I think accepting him back was probably the beginning of the end. When he describes why he loves me, he always says it’s because I’m his best friend, and it has never been because he finds me beautiful or attractive. I know he likes petite girls and I’m not petite. That being said, I do think I’m a catch in a lot of people’s eyes, which I fear is why he convinced himself to marry me.
Now, we are 2 years into our marriage and haven’t had sex since our daughter was conceived. I had a rough pregnancy, plus I have slept in a different room since she was born to take care of her, but I think in a normal marriage there would at least be some effort. We are very disconnected physically.
What I guess I grapple with is this - does breaking up make the most sense for a 36 year old who wants another baby? I do not want to get divorced, get back into the dating world, raise a kid basically on my own, and risk not giving my daughter a sibling. That sounds horrible. That being said, I also fear there is an end to this relationship long term.
I’m not really looking for, “sis end it now!”. This is much more complicated since we brought a child into this world. I know the downsides to staying - insecurity, possible future infidelity, unhappiness, etc. - but I want to hear the upsides on whether it is worth giving my daughter a sibling I always dreamed of. Realistically, my time is numbered to bear another child, so I fear there’s only one clear option for me, I hate to say. Would love to hear stories of those who have gone through something similar.
TL;DR my husband and I are no longer connected, but I want another baby. Is that a horrible mistake?
