How can I escape Bronze if my teammates hold me back?

I know, I know. The title sounds like a whole lot of cope, but just hear me out.

I’m by no means an amazing Overwatch player, but I am fairly confident that I’m better than the average Bronze player. The issue is that, at its core, Overwatch is a team game, and I can’t win a 1V5 where the majority of my team is doing absolutely nothing to help me.

I pick Tank? Either the DPS or the Supports have never touched a controller before, and apparently don’t know what pushing is. I get a battle Mercy that does 600 healing total. I pick DPS? The brawl tank is halfway across the map doing god knows what.

When I luck out and get a mostly-silver team, I get tons of kills and barely die, so I’m fairly certain I’m not godawful. But I only get lucky so many rounds, and the rest of the time, the matchmaking drags me back down to hell.

Again, I know this sounds like cope, but for the sake of this post, assume I’m telling the truth. How can I escape Bronze?
