Borderlands 4 enemy elements

I've noticed this for a very long time now but nobody talks about it. I noticed that if I'm using a certain element for a long time, like making a new amon and using burning fist, I start seeing just about every other enemy also being an incendiary variant. Is this a mechanic I missed?
