I was having dinner with my family nearby at Red 99 and my sister pointed that a few stores down was the new [DuoDuo Snacks](https://www.duoduoglobal.com/) (in the mall complex at the [corner of Rosemead and Broadway](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Brhbgx9XYFmPYLzD9)). They first started in Pomona a few years ago and they have another supermarket in Rowland Heights and this Temple City location is so new, it's still in its soft opening phase.

DuoDuo Snacks specializes in all kinds of Asian snacks and drinks (along with make-up goods, small toys, but it's mostly snacks). I've been to "snack-only supermarkets" in Tokyo but this is the first time I've seen an equivalent here in L.A. You want seaweed and butter potato chips? A CostCo-sized bag of sembei? A dozen flavors of Oreo you've never seen before? Cuttlefish, broad beans, mochi, gummies, ice teas, instant noodles, et. al.? *They got you*.

I grew up around Chinese supermarkets so I'm used to seeing "stuff you don't find at Ralphs" but this was on some whole next level. It was entertaining just to walk through and take a look at everything.

They have a fresh bakery section and I picked up a "chocolate crispy pork floss cake" (S17-18) which seemed so odd, I felt like "ok, I gotta try that". It was...unlike anything I've had before. I mean, I've had chocolate. I grew up with pork floss. But *together?* That was a new one. It was kind of like sea salt chocolate: sweet and savory but the particular flavor of the pork floss was unmistakeable. I didn't hate it though I'm not going to rush out to get them again.

At check out, I noticed they had coffee mints and below them, my wife pointed out the row of condoms. I guess folks might want to get both, last minute?
