DMing a guy to ask him out?

Almost 2 months ago I went to a hardcore show and the bassist in a local band heavily caught my eye. I followed his band on insta. I forgot about it for a while then 2 weeks ago his profile came up so I followed it. He requested to follow me back. We follow a frightening amount of bands in common. Then, I kid you not, I'm at a show last week and he's there working the doors and his band is playing again. There was a lot of exchanged looks so it seems. Afterwards I DMd him to say the bands set was wicked. He said 'Thanks so much!! :))' After some light account stalking I know he's single and a few years older than me.

We have not spoken face to face but I so badly want to hit him up again and shoot my shot. I am terrified and have no clue what to say. HELP!!!
