Am I restricted by doing an international development degree?
Originally applied for international relations & history and missed my offer, secured a place at KCL BA intl dev through clearing. Was not allowed to switch into IR. I have always been more interested obvs in theory, political and historical issues and 1. Less bothered about development projects/NGOs 2. Feel very cornered as this degree focuses overwhelmingly on the global south according to the website. Eg I have a huge interest in Russian history that will now go unexplored. I’m hoping to plug the gaps with societies (diplomacy and war studies) but am worried I’ll hate the degree. I am pretty interested in the more political side of developing economies and the histories esp colonialism and Cold War so there’s that. Does anyone have any info about the course, experiences etc to lmk if I’m going to hate this degree LOL😭
