Landlord is planning to update the heating to a heating/AC system, asking for W2s. Is there any reason I should give pushback?

Our landlord says he wants to update our heating system to a new heating/AC system and is asking for our last electric bill and W2s. I can understand the electrical bill, I guess he's trying to make the apartment more energy efficient, but why the W2s? Is there any reason we should or should not give him our W2s? We just renewed our lease through next July and are planning to move out once the lease is up. Location: Massachusetts.
