judge my horror movie idea!
so, it would be a slasher film, but its all about the negative affects religion can have on people who grew up in that setting, using Christianity as the religion in the film--though, it could apply to other religions with some changes.
the slasher would have religious psychosis, and throughout the movie we'd be introduced to the victims and their personal lives, all of them being of the chosen religion with sins applying to that religion--in this particular one, there'd be a girl whos sin is she wishes she was a boy and that she was in a different body than the one god had given her, there'd be this jock guy who has dirty thoughts about the other boys on his sports team, a teacher who had read the bible enough times to be aware of every minor sin they make in their day to day life the moment its made to the point the end of their day always ends in confession, and probably a few others with possibly darker themes. the slasher thinks their doing a service to god, and thinks god wants them to stalk and kill these people--which would only be enforced by all the victims having no resistance to their deaths, because the guilt of their sins and the ones they may make is heavier than any death.
I'd want it to be recognized the pattern of god being more of a burden on these people than a way of faith, that the teens are still living the expectations of a very religious family, while the teacher would be an example of those kids after. the ones that stayed and kept the cycle. I think the setting would be a small closed off town to enhance it, and maybe another character could be someone who was violated sexually and feels guilty about it because their purity was ripped from them--I think it would be better if it were a boy, so it could also make a commentary on how male victims are often discarded rather than comforted, and how they are more encouraged to be silent about it due to the amount of people who believe a girl being violated is horrible but believe its cool when a boy is violated because hes "getting game", but it could still work with a female character--but I think that might be a bit too deep, and would need to be handled with care.
