The Meaning of The Prophecy (and why we might get playable Enchainers)

SpoilerLore & Story

The Prophecy

Warning: Incredibly long analysis and theory up ahead. So thank you for your time and attention if you read the whole thing.

I'm sure many of the OG's are aware of this quest, but for the newcomer it was a quest that came out in 1.0 of ZZZ. The quest is basically a hero's journey to save the world by defeating the "corrupted individual". I always find this quest to be interesting to think about because it's clearly referencing to the story of the game. It's similar to the Bangboo prince in that regard where it depicts the story of the world, but possibly hinting at the game's ending.

The characters in the Bangboo Prince all correlated to characters we knew in game
Bangboo King = The Creator
Bangboo Prince = Sunbringer
Fox = Miyabi Ancestor
Birds = Remielle + Belli
Helmet = Big Robot Guy
Antler = Joyous

Similarly, I think the prophecy was hinting to characters we would meet on our journey. And with most people familiar with the quest, in order to acquire the true ending you need to befriend 14 individuals. And these 14 individuals are seperated into two factions in the story. With the first faction representing the "good" side aka the Seven Virtues, while the second faction represents the bad side aka "The Seven Sins".

After playing through season three, I believe I have an idea on who the fourteen individuals are in the Prophecy.

The Seven Virtues

I believe the seven virtues in the prophecy would the Void Hunters of Eridu or more specifically the holders of the seven void hunter weapons. Which makes sense to me because they're seven Original Void Hunters and we know they coveted the King's Powers (aka The Creator) for themselves. These seven represent the side of good as they stand to fight against the hollows and eliminate any oppositions that's for the hollows.

But what's interesting is that this hypothesis of the seven virtues being the original void hunters is kind of already debunked with the introduction of Ye Shunguang. Because we know that Ye Shunguang doesn't resemble any of the Original Void Hunters at all or even possess any of the original Void Hunters weapons. So, does this mean that game has already deviated from the prophecy or does it suggest something else...?

Well, I believe it makes more sense when you consider that one of the original void hunters doesn't represent one of the seven virtues and it would actually belong to the holder of the qingming sword instead.

The Seven Sins

So if the Void Hunters represent the seven virtues in the prophecy, then who represents the seven sins? Well like I said before the Seven Virtues goals would be to eliminate the threats of the hollows, while the opposition would be to stand alongside the hollows. So the seven sins would most likely represent the Seven Enchainers of the great hollows.

And unlike the Void Hunters, we actually do not know much about the Enchainers except like one of them (which I'll go over later). And what's more interesting is that the current number of Great Hollows is only six..? Which isn't enough to fulfill the prophecy since we know we need at least Seven sins, except if there was one more great hollow that we don't know about.

Hmm let's count the current known great hollows: Cretan Hollow, Hawara Hollow, Lemnian Hollow, Papago Hollow, Pursenas Hollow and Solove Hollow

I believe there was originally Seven Great Hollows and that Seventh hollow is the famous Hivelord Hollow that Sunbringer was said to have eliminated. But we know that someone told a little lie and that hollow is most likely still being kept active by the enchainer of that hollow. Which with the new information we know, we know that Sunbringer is the enchainer of the Hivelord Hollow.

Which would mean that we do have potentially up to Seven Sins and it would also explain Ye Shunguang's debut as one of the Void Hunters of New Eridu. It honestly explains a lot of the game's direction when you consider that Sunbringer is the Enchainer of one of the Seven Great Hollows. And I find it really interesting because despite the Void Hunter's goals being to eliminate the hollows, she chose instead to protect or keep the Hivelord Hollows existence a secret.

I imagine we'll learn more about the reason when we get to her patch, but it definitely puts Sunbringer as one of the Seven Sins in my mind.

The True Prophecy

I find this interesting, because there is a really good chance that ZZZ might actually introduce Sunbringer's drip not as a Void Hunter, but as an Enchainer instead. Which would suggest to the publics that other Enchainers might be playable in the future. So, in a sense the game would have two major powerhouse factions that Phaeton would have to individually explore each of their arcs. The first belonging to the Void Hunters of Eridu and the second belonging to the Enchainers of the great hollows.

And I believe that the ending of the game would be when both sides that stand against the hollows and in support of the hollows will unite against The Creator. Since I imagine that the creator would be the final boss of the prophecy and you'll need both sides to reach the true ending of the game.

Epilogue

Anyway that's the end of my theory and analysis, let me know your thoughts!
