He found someone else

I’m a 26F and I’ve know the brother for years (29M). He is a very sweet brother extremely helpful and gentle. We work together in the masjid and he was usually more quiet, but I could tell he appreciated my extrovert personality. He would often smile from a far when I’d interact with Sheikh of the musjid and watch me here and there. Around January to February he became more talkative and he would seek me out more in the masjid, offer to help even tease me at time which caught me off guard but I was still nice and responsive but I kept it respectful. The aunties in the masjid noticed and started teasing me saying he seems to like, but they reminded me the importance of boundaries so from then on out I was still warm but I kept it a bit more formal. I was working a lot between March and June so wasn’t in the masjid often but I noticed that he was different…more distant though I wasn’t sure why. I could feel something was off and eventually I found out he got engaged to a girl that was my complete opposite. It surprised me but I wished them well. It still hurts from time to time but I can’t help but wonder if he liked her while he was being extra nice to me or if it all happened after I was gone in just 4 months or maybe it was all in my head.
