Help optimising build for a better cost to performance:)
Hi everyone,
Abit of a long post so I appreciate anyone who takes time to help me out!
This is my planned PC build for my comp gaming setup
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JvF9tC
I plan on optimising the pc and also overclocking the GPU and RAM to absolutely maximise the PC’s performance as I’m trying to run either a 600hz BENQ or the new ASUS OLEDs which are 540hz or 720hz so I wanna try get as much frames as possible, but I don’t want to just be wasting money for the sake of it :)
Below is my thought process for the parts I know I can save money on and I’d like to know if you think they are valid or could be switch to a part that has been performance to cost ratio. I don’t want to completely cheap out on parts as I have money for the build, however I’d much rather save $300+ bucks on the entire build then waste it on parts I won’t ever use to their maximum capability:)
Noctua CPU Cooler: I chose this cooler as it’s “overkill” and I don’t know how much heat overclocking adds so I thought with the CPU I know it could easily handle the Over clocking. However I do know I can save money here but I’m not sure which to choose as I don’t want to overclock and then overheat the PC
The motherboard I know nothing about tbh, I chose it as it has good reviews and can run all the latest parts! I don’t plan on upgrading this pc if I’m honest, I’ll use it until it’s completely obsolete. So I don’t know how to choose a MB or if I can save money in this area
RAM CL30 vs CL36. I saw online that CL30 was really good for gaming if you Overclock of EXPO it, as I’m trying to maximise frames for my monitor. However is the extra cost really worth it, it’s painful just looking at the price of the ram and I know I could likely save $100+ easily.
SSD, I went with the latest Samsung as it’s really good and fast and will last a long time and my friends have used previous Samsungs and had no issues, I know the 9100 may be a little over kill but I thought just buy one of the best m.2’s and forget about it! Something reliable for my files and games :)
Sapphire pulse 9070XT, many people have said buy the cheapest 9070XT as I’d be overclocking anyway however the sapphire is $30 more than the cheapest and many have said it’s a reliable brand and had no issues. For what is the largest cost of the build I thought just spend abit extra $ and not have to worry about QC
Case: I went with the MID over the Mini as I plan on overclocking and was worried that the mini being smaller with less room would cause thermal issues and turn into an oven. Hence why I went with the mid to hopefully make airflow easier while not having to have a skyscraper pc case on my desk 🤣
PSU: the build says 545w, I have no clue how much extra power the overclock causes and was worried that a 750w might be cutting it too close so I went with a 850w
Many thanks to anyone who reads this all and adds input, I’ve tried my best to work things out but the people on this community are much more knowledgeable than me :)
