how to delete google business profile without losing the reviews

if a client closes one location and keeps another, do the reviews die with the profile?

Owner wants it gone. i keep telling him to mark it permanantly closed instead, since deleting takes the 40 reviews too. does Google move them to the surviving location or is that a myth?
