My girlfriend's celebrity crush

(19M)(18F)

It’s been two years, and throughout all this time, she has genuinely been a very good person to me. There are a lot of things I love and appreciate about her, and honestly, most things in our relationship are good. But there is one thing that has been bothering me for quite a while now, and that is her celebrity crush.

I’m not trying to control who she likes or force her to stop being a fan of him. I understand that having a celebrity crush is normal, and I don’t expect her to completely remove him from her life or stop enjoying his content. What bothers me is how obsessed she seems to be with him and how far it sometimes goes. I’ve already told her multiple times that it makes me uncomfortable and that it affects how I feel, but even after knowing how I feel, she continues doing the same things.

She keeps reposting things about her celebrity crush, and sometimes it feels like she is constantly showing how much she likes him. The part that hurts me more is that after I talk to her about it, she doesn’t really seem to take my feelings seriously. Instead, she sometimes starts using her second account more, almost like she thinks I won’t check it. I eventually find out anyway, and that makes me feel even worse because it gives me the feeling that she knows what she is doing bothers me but chooses to hide it instead of actually talking about it with me.

I’m not asking for her to stop liking him. I’m not asking her to delete every repost or pretend she doesn’t have a crush on him. I just want some boundaries and consideration. I want her to understand that there is a difference between simply liking a celebrity and being so obsessed with them that it starts affecting your relationship with someone else.

Another thing that has been bothering me is that she doesn’t text me as much anymore. I know people can get busy and that texting less doesn’t automatically mean someone doesn’t care, but when it happens together with everything else, it makes me feel like I’m becoming less important to her. Sometimes I feel like I’m putting more effort into the relationship than she is.

I still care about her a lot, which is why this bothers me so much. If I didn’t care, I probably wouldn’t even be upset about it. I just want her to listen to my feelings and understand where I’m coming from instead of thinking I’m trying to control her. I want us to be able to talk about things like this without one person feeling ignored or dismissed.

After two years together, I don’t want something like this to become a reason for us to drift apart. I just want mutual respect, communication, and understanding. I’m not asking for perfection. I just want her to care about how her actions affect me the same way I try to care about how my actions affect her.

Any advice?
