WHAT WAS THE ORIGINAL GLADIO?

Operation Gladio started right after World War II. The Cold War had begun and NATO feared Soviet tanks could roll across Europe any day.

So the CIA and NATO secretly picked loyal soldiers and ordinary citizens in almost every Western European country. They trained them in hidden camps and buried weapons, explosives, and radios in forests and fields.

In Italy the program was actually called “Gladio” – the Latin word for sword. Almost nobody knew about it until 1990, when the Italian prime minister told the truth in parliament. That caused huge scandals across Europe.

RUSSIA WAS ALREADY FIGHTING A SHADOW WAR IN 2025

Today Russia is not sending tanks (yet), but every week something happens:

• Russian ships quietly cut internet cables under the Baltic Sea.
• Mystery drones fly over German factories and Belgian and Polish airports and force them to close.
• Polish railway gets blown up.
• GPS signals vanish for hours because of Russian jammers – planes and ships go blind.
• Fake social-media armies and friendly politicians spread fear and division inside Europe.
• Sabotage campaigns

All these attacks are kept small enough that NATO cannot officially say “this is war” and send troops. It is the same sneaky hybrid war the Soviet Union used in the 1970s – only now with drones and hackers instead of just money for communist parties.

THE ONLY ANSWER THAT REALLY WORKS

The only way to fight a shadow war is with your own shadows. That means new, super-secret stay-behind teams. Small groups of carefully chosen people who already know each other. These teams, just like some original Gladio units were in the 1970s and 1980s, will hunt and quietly execute Russian spies, saboteurs, and high-value targets on Western soil. Back then, Gladio-linked killers in Italy, Belgium, France, Greece etc carried out “wet jobs” (assassinations) against people they saw as enemies inside their own countries. A modern version pointed at Russia and China would almost certainly get the same green light for silent, deniable killings of Russian/Chinese agents on NATO territory.
