Carbon steel pans

I am looking to slowly start replacing my pots/pans with better quality, so I dont have to replace them again or at least anytime soon. While researching ive come across carbon steel skillets and i love the concept of them. Any pros vs cons that you notice with them vs stainless steel? Ive seen ones all over the price spectrum. Do you think its necessary to go to the high end ones or can I get away with the mid price? And any brand recs ate appreciated
