Is a Math/CS Bachelor's + AI Master's (Paris-Saclay) suited for Quant?
I am currently a Master 2 student in AI at Université Paris-Saclay, after having completed a double bachelor's degree in Math and CS (also at Paris-Saclay).
I want to know if my academic profile is viable, in theory, for quantitative finance, and if so, what specific kind of quant role I would be best suited for (or, what is lacking to work in such fields?).
I have to complete a 6 month end-of-study internship (from march) to graduate, so if this path makes sense, I'd try targeting an internship in that specific field.
To give some details on my background:
- Math: Multivariable calculus, Linear algebra, Probability, Statistics, Optimization (constrained/convex/stochastic) Numerical analysis, ODEs, Statistical inference, Information theory
- AI (theory and practice): ML, NLP, Deep learning, Reinforcement learning, Signal Processing, Time series ML, Scientific ML, Probabilistic generative models
- CS: Python, SQL, C++, parallel computing (OpenMP), algorithmics
- 2 computer vision internships (1 and 3 months), 1 experience as an LLM engineer (3 month), and 2 in ML research projects (1 and 3 months)
Any insight / advice would be really appreciated!
