Torchwood: Lease of Life

Lease of Life is the final episode of the sixth Torchwood Big Finish season.

Starring Burn Gorman as Owen Harper.

Released in March 2021, written by Aaron Lamont, his debut Torchwood episode and directed by Scott Handcock.

This is set when Owen was alive with the Clive Banks website setting this in between season 1 and 2.

The episode title refers to real estate with one of the guest characters Seren being a real estate agent and ironically she herself lives in a shared house.

Hardly an ideal situation for herself since her job is to help potential buyers to find an ideal/dream home.

It also refers to the monster at hand getting that way.

Owen comes into this story when in the guise of the Council's Mould Expert goes to investigate the mould there.

However the mould is both alien and deadly.

Quite an impressive solo outing for Gorman as Owen.

The most horrifying moment was on listening to one of the other tenants, Nye's demise by the mould.

Seren hardly comes across a likable character upon first meeting her but got a cruel fate that for the mould to be kept at bay is that she cannot be out of the shared house for more than 96 hours as a consequence now becoming the house's new owner due to the previous owner having been killed by the mould.

Enjoyable interviews afterwards including the cast talking about their real life living accommodations in their personal histories with Gorman saying that he had lived with six gorgeous girls (something most men could only dream of) and that they were (literally) dirty.

With the cast recounting horrid accommodation stories it makes me glad I refused or ignore my parents' rushed timetable of when to move out as it would have been a disaster if I had left before I was ready.

Writer Lamont said he chose Owen for this episode, his Torchwood debut as he does not believe he likes Owen as a character while praising Gorman as an actor.

In conversation with producer James Goss suggested Ianto as an alternative and that the difference with him is that he would (literally) had cleaned up afterwards.

With the mould being the menace of this story it makes me think of Karen Mould a high school teacher that I had sex with and I of course had sucked her tits.

Another tenant is called Ellie and similar in name to Elle Macpherson who I also have sex with and tits that I suck.
