How do I ask out a divorcee without knowing if it's too soon.

Met a woman playing pickleball a couple of times. She's around my age, seems nice, attractive and fun. I asked an acquaintance who knows her if she's single and he said she's recently divorced. My question is how do I approach this so that if it happens to be too soon for her to date after her divorce, I don't create an uncomfortable situation and still leave the possibility open for when she might be ready to date again.
