\-Midnights-

The dishes in the sink with opened bottles,

The icing from the cake scattered around the tables,

The wax pooling around the burning candles—

I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but I'd like to treasure this midnight with you.

Of all the times and places we have been,

Somehow, you in a worn-out shirt and jeans at 3:00 is my favourite.

We can laugh and keep the lights on

Drink the rum until it's gone

Or fall in love and slow dance on the lawn

Just promise me to be by my side until dawn.

Let's go uphill with our bikes

Until our legs carry us close to the stars

Unravel your braids for me tonight

And let the city lights tell how beautiful you are

Let's sit beneath the swaying trees

And laugh until our cheeks start aching

Talk about the scrapes on your knees

I hope this is love in the making
