Hiya!

Today, I'm looking to do a somewhat toxic relationship in a classic dystopian sci-fi setting.

The relationship I'm interested in is between a freelance hacker (Lily) and a crime boss who's had an eye on her since the first time she hired her. Not only does she want Lily's skills to be used solely for her enterprise (a commitment she's refused every time she's been asked), she also wants to claim Lily for herself. Now, Lily hates the idea of being constrained by anything, and she trusts no one enough to let them in close to her. She would much rather do contracts when and how she chooses, have meaningless sex on her own terms, and generally live her life in peace and solitude. It says a lot about her that she'd rather let a woman fuck her till she cries than talk at all about her personal life.

The basic thought behind how this dynamic develops is that your character's trying to own Lily through whatever means necessary. There are plenty of ways for her to do it. Give Lily an assignment only to draw Lily in and reveal the assignment is a romantic dinner between them, a place where she can seduce and corner Lily. Catch Lily at a weak point, when she's drank too much alcohol or taken drugs, and use that to her advantage. Kidnap her. Maybe they've been fucking on the down low for a while, and one time your character just doesn't let Lily leavy. Or maybe something external has forced them together; Lily's life is in danger and she needs protection, etc, etc. You get the idea, there's a lot of options.

To elaborate a little more on the dynamic I'm after, I see them both being mutually attracted to each other, having fun 'n all, but with your character pushing Lily's boundaries constantly. She's not a meek pushover, but she also doesn't have much power in the world except for her specific skillset, so it's definitely possible. It will also be a pretty antagonistic relationship. There'll be romance, there'll be abuse, there'll be toxicity, maybe even emotional moments.

As always before, I'm happy to adjust and change any details you might desire - this is just a basic idea, after all.
