Tonsils keep flaring back up after kissing? Normal?

Hi all,

I contracted mono in the start of May this year from a guy I was seeing. I had somewhat mild symptoms, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes and tonsils (initially with white spots). My tonsils mostly went down at the end of July and lymph nodes were calming down too.

I continued to see the guy between once a month to once every two weeks throughout this time. I've probably seen him twice since it all calmed down and both times my tonsils have swollen back up and lymph nodes have swelled back up too, once with a sore throat and tonsil exudate. Is this normal? I've been tested for STI's and bacteria etc and all clear on that count. Is this an EBV flare up or just irritation?
