How does bonus buy rtp work

I heard most slots have a return of around 80% but if you keep buying the bonus does it come back in a later purchase or spins? Or do you just get around 80% back on average after every purchase. please someone let me know because I am incredibly down on a slot but I’m pretty sure it’s due to give some of my money back atleast.
