Three pricing mistakes I see UGC creators make constantly
Not rules, just the three that cost the most, in roughly the order they cost it.
Bundling usage rights into the content fee. Once it's one number there's nothing to renew and nothing to negotiate in parts. Split it: content fee on one line, usage on another, priced per period. Then when they want to keep running the ads in six months there's something to renew instead of an awkward conversation.
No deposit. 50% on booking removes most of the late payment problem and most of the ghosting. A brand that has already paid half has a reason to close the file. A brand that won't pay a deposit has told you something useful before you spend a day filming.
No end date on paid usage. "Ad partnership" or "paid usage" with no expiry is the clause that quietly becomes permanent. Name the platforms individually and state a date. If they push back on the price, shorten the term instead of discounting.
None of this needs a lawyer or a template. It's three lines in an email. Happy to answer questions if anyone is mid-negotiation on something.
