How long does it take to buy and move into a place?

Partner and I are looking at the lowest end of the market. We are renting and moving back into parents‘ isn’t an option, so we just want to move into any place as we’re paying at least 2x (or more) in rent what we would for a comparable property with a mortgage. Is it doable in a month? Two months? By Xmas?
